Spine injury & Anomaly Cancer: Crisis Assistance:

Oct 5 I went into the ER for mid back pain & new onset of unusual symptoms, both legs were feeling like pins/needles & weak to the point of not walking without assistance.

The MRI showed spinal cord compression (which is more typically seen in severe trauma cases) in the mid-thoracic vertebrae. In the MRI pic it looks like one vertebra, but Emergency surgery the next morning revealed a tumor which compromised 3 vertebrae and had to be removed to get the majority of the tumor out. Hardware was placed from T6-L1 to stabilize. The cancer pathology showed metastatic breast cancer / stage 4.

A second emergency surgery (thoracotomy) was performed 4 days later, deflating my lung for access, removing my rib & creating/replacing the 3 vertebrae with more hardware placed to stabilize. That’s TWO (8+ hr surgeries coming within millimeters of my spinal cord).

There was a third surgery to place a chest tube.

A fourth urgent surgery to remove a hematoma clogging the chest tube & replace tubing.

If you’re keeping track as a medical professional that’s a LOT of strong meds, anesthesia, stress on the body, pain management, mental health adjustments, et al. X-rays, scans with contrasts, scans without, more X rays, bone scan, brain scan, more X-rays. I’m exhausted just writing this!

I was in ICU majority of my almost 2 months in the hospital with in-patient rehab. I cannot say enough amazing things about my PT & OT therapists. They were God-sent, fed my soul & worked the body. All components are central to a successful start toward long term rehab.

I’m now aware I’m a walking miracle, although ICU is mostly a blur.

After in-patient rehab I went straight to radiation for 2weeks, every day. While waiting for a PET scan (& mamo).

All scans have come out clear; the PET came out clear of any breast cancer- none. So the tumor was a cancerous tumor without a home.

God healed breast cancer from my body and has used all things, including the tumor removal journey for my good. It’s His promise for those that love & diligently seek Him although at times I wander if I’m worthy. ❤️❤️‍

The journey continues. I know HE has a plan, plans to prosper me & not harm; plans to give me hope & a future. Those are the plans that matter most. The realities of heaven don’t align with the realities of this earth. That doesn’t mean I don’t recognize these events!

The miracles from providers to God mysteries are too numerous to count, but I’m starting to journal some -> for His glory!!!
