Urgent Appeal: Earthquake Relief for Myanmar

I'm Curtis Fox, owner of Privada Travel, based in the USA. From 2013 to 2016, my wife and I lived and worked in Yangon, Myanmar, during its golden years of democracy.

On Friday, March 28, a catastrophic 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city (pop. 1.7 million). The devastation extended into Thailand, claiming lives and homes. The death toll is already in the thousands and is expected to rise rapidly.

Myanmar is a country of profound cultural richness but fragile governance and limited resources, weakened by decades of civil war and authoritarian rule. Experts predict the scale of destruction from this disaster will surpass the country’s annual GDP.

I am raising funds for two trusted, on-the-ground organizations providing direct, life-saving relief:

1️⃣ Skills for Humanity (SFH) – A local nonprofit supporting communities across Myanmar.

2️⃣ Rescue Mission to Myanmar – An emergency response initiative led by Myanmar Assistance, a local medical aid organization within the aware24 network.
