Urgent Appeal For Bella and her Five Pups

We currently have well over 100 dogs in our care, with 20 of those unsuitable for rehoming, so they are in our permanent care. We do not believe in putting a dog down unless necessary. We are busier than at any time since we started in 1975. We're a modest-sized charity and rely on generous donations from our supporters. We're currently stretched beyond what our resources can support and so recently decided that we could no longer take any new dogs in until we've at least rehomed those we already have.

Until we saw this...

These poor dogs, a mum and her five 9-month-old pups lived in awful conditions. We had no choice but to rescue them from those horrendous conditions. Arrangements were made to collect them all the next day. Although we'd seen the photographs, we weren't prepared for the sight that greeted us.

These dogs had been living in their own faeces and urine, now firmly embedded in their coats. Some of these pups are significantly underweight. The owner had scattered poor-quality food on the floor, which was survival of the fittest. Despite several baths, the embedded faeces wouldn't budge. We had no alternative but to clip them clean. Some are more severe than others.

These dogs had not been socialised or left the property, yet they possess the sweetest nature. Sadly we will see the real issues rearing once they start being introduced to everyday situations. We will prepare them as much as we can whilst they are in our care, but sometimes we cannot compensate for the early socialising every dog desperately needs.

It wasn't solely about finding the space for them but also the increased financial implications. These six dogs alone will cost us £400+ weekly just for kennelling. That's without any costs for vet visits they will encounter, and that's with hoping nothing serious develops.

We are already trying to support the costs for the 100+ dogs already in our care. The reality of the situation is worrying. Every penny you donate goes directly to caring for the dogs. These dogs, along with all the others, desperately needed help.

We desperately need your support! Please help us to help them.
