Help Afghan All-Girl Robotics Team Get to Safety

Donation protected
Latest news: Thanks to your support, we  successfully evacuated the robotics team, Fatemah, Lida, Kawsar, Saghar and Maryam, and their loved ones. We made many urgent calls to you - the InspiredMinds community and the response was overwhelming. By uniting we managed to make the impossible possible, the families successfully evacuated and the robotics team are now placed in education.

Saghar - a member of the robotics team - has a message for you

But it is not over yet... part of the family are now isolated in Mexico and we are desperately seeking legal assistance or embassy support to relocate them permanently. Please contact us  if you can assist. You can also help the Afghan Robotics team by donating on gofundme.

As Afghanistan has fallen to the Taliban, women and girls have become targets to their regime. We are asking for your help because we desperately need to get the all-girls robotics team (some as young as 14 years old), also known as the Afghan Dreamers and their families to safety.

The Afghan Dreamers first garnered global attention back in 2017 when they were refused visas to attend a robotics competition in Washington, which prompted an international outcry. Since then, the girls have become symbols of hope and unity for Afghanistan, amassing supporters and fans around the world.

The girls don’t just advocate for girls in STEM, they walk the talk every single day. They made headlines last year when they invented ventilators out of used car parts during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Robotics has taught us to think in a different way, we feel that we can develop solutions for every problem we face,” said an Afghan Dreamer team member, who does not want her name published for security purposes.

In the past few weeks as the Taliban swiftly occupied most of Afghanistan, the girls have been targeted by the fundamentalist militant group and are fearful for their lives and future under Taliban rule.

Hiding out in safe houses, we are working to get the girls and their families to safety, but the current situation is chaotic and complex.
Every donation can help save these girls and their families. Thank you for considering the donation.
