Urgent Appeal from Gaza: Help Amal and her family to Rebuild
Donation protected
My name is Amal Jumaa, a pharmaceutical doctor from Gaza. Gaza was once a place where we lived safely in a warm, spacious home filled with cherished memories. But now, we find ourselves forced to abandon that home again and again, as the hardships here grow unbearable. In Gaza, every breath feels like a countdown, and fear clings to me—whether I'm venturing out in search of water or food for my family, or simply trying to connect to the outside world.
Gaza, where my dreams and aspirations withered, is now a place of endless sorrow, where I live with my family. We are eight souls crammed into a room scarcely large enough to hold us, after being driven from even the frail shelter of a tent.
I watch helplessly as this war devours my family, leaving nothing but pain in its wake. My father, Dr. Juma, is 70 years old. I see his body wasting away before my eyes, still suffering from wounds that have yet to heal, because the medicine has run out. My mother, who has always been our source of warmth and comfort, now sits by the fire, her back bent with pain, struggling for each breath, yet still finding the strength to cook for us.
My heart aches for my older brother, Muhammad, who suffers from excruciating kidney pain caused by the saltwater we are forced to drink. There is no treatment to ease his suffering. But my deepest sorrow is for his wife, Sarah. During this war, she gave birth by Caesarean section without anesthesia, and now her newborn struggles with malnutrition because there is no milk to feed her. The pain in Sarah’s eyes is unbearable; she recently received the news of her family’s death, and the shock has left her in a state of silent despair.
And now, our home—our last refuge—has been destroyed, leaving us even more lost and broken. The suffering feels endless, with no escape in sight. I am reaching out to you, pleading for your help to lift us from this devastation. Any donation, no matter how small, could bring us a glimmer of hope in this darkest of times. Please, help us find a way out of this nightmare. Thank you.
