Dear Friends,
We write to you with heavy hearts, seeking your assistance to bring our beloved Joop Sparkes (29), home from Prague and to celebrate his short life.
What happened?
During an organized party boat trip with friends in Prague, Joop went overboard into the Vltava River in the early hours of Sunday 28th April near the Charles Bridge Area.
After 7 days of desperately searching by his sister (Jodie) , girlfriend (Charley) and other family members - on Monday May 6th 2024, Joop's body was pulled from the Vltava River and identified.

Challenges Faced:
Efforts to find Joop have been met with significant challenges. Crew members aboard the party boat have been uncooperative, and the Prague police initially showed disinterest. Back home, Scottish Police advised that the responsibility lies with authorities in Prague. Joop’s family have received no financial support from the British Embassy and funded their search efforts themselves.
About Joop:
Joop was a cherished son, brother, boyfriend, cousin and uncle. He worked in the construction industry and enjoyed outdoor adventures, staying fit, and spending time with loved ones. He was a funny, caring and adventurous young man who spent much of his time in Nature from climbing mountains, to camping in the wilderness. He also spent much of his time with his girlfriend Charley and working on his cars (especially his Honda Civic Type R!).
A Plea from Joop’s Family:
We are devastated by our loss and Joop's passing has left a hole in our hearts. Please keep Joop in your thoughts and prayers. Your donation will help us to repatriate Joop's body back to the UK, contribute towards funeral costs and investigate with local authorities to find out what happened to him.
