Urgent Plea: Save Baby Sham and Reunite the Alyazji Family

Donation protected
Hi all, my name is Charlie, and I am reaching out to you with an urgent plea for help. I am raising money for my dear friend, Mohammed Alyazji, and his family, who urgently need to evacuate Gaza and we need to act fast!

The Alyazji family lost their homes and family business. They have nowhere to return to and there is no safe place in Gaza. So far they have been displaced 8 times and are moving from one tent to another, constantly seeking shelter and safety.

Your generosity and support will make a huge difference in saving and keeping their family together. Let us rally around them to ensure they evacuate and reach safety ASAP.

Please read Mohammed's harrowing story and heartfelt plea below:

---------------------------------------------------------
I'm Mohammed Alyazji, a 28-year-old product designer from Gaza City.

My father, Ashraf, the cornerstone of our family and our pillar of support, was out of Gaza when the crisis unfolded, so I had to step up and take on the responsibility of evacuating my entire family, which spans four generations and includes children and the elderly. I was hesitant to start a fundraiser but this is our only hope now since things keep getting more dire and unsettling with each passing moment. Please help me get my whole family out. I cannot even imagine leaving anyone behind.

Current situation and updates
Given the ongoing genocide and dire situation in Gaza, my mother's health has significantly deteriorated. Malnutrition and shortages of essential resources have compounded her existing health issues. She also suffers from complications from a previous surgery, including frequent bleeding episodes and high blood pressure. This has led to frequent unconsciousness. All medical reports are available for reference.

Consequently, I had to take on the responsibility of evacuating my mother to receive essential medical treatment. This urgent action was taken to ensure her safety and prevent any further serious health complications.

I've depleted all my savings, painstakingly accumulated before the crisis to chase my dreams. Recently, I spent $22,500 on permits for myself, my mother, and my three other family members to enter Egypt.

Meanwhile, my sister Diana made it out with her kids with the help of her husband who was already in Egypt.

Additionally, my aunt Israa, the wife of a martyr, has been raising her family alone. After giving birth to twins, Walaa and Alaa, she began suffering from severe joint and nerve inflammations, later diagnosed as chronic rheumatoid arthritis. This condition causes intense pain, swelling, stiffness, and fatigue, severely impacting her health amid the ongoing crisis.

Despite having paid all I had, it's a heartbreaking feeling to realize I still can't save everyone. I couldn't afford the costly exit permits for the rest of my family.

As a result, we are now seeking funds to evacuate the family members who couldn't obtain permits. If we cannot reach our goal we will be forced to leave them behind, including baby Sham and her sisters, who you see in the cover photo. (Please see chart below).

The Mission
This fundraiser aims to collect €70,000 for my family's safe evacuation. Our top priority is to raise €35,000 to support the most vulnerable individuals: my aunt, sister, and their children. Here's the detailed breakdown:

$52,500 for Permits and Crossing Fees: This covers the extremely costly exit permits to Egypt, that are unfortunately imposed on all Gazans who want to evacuate. The cost is $5,000 per adult (8x5000) and $2,500 per child (5x2500).

$10,000 for Shelter and Immediate Support: This will be utilized to secure resources for temporary shelter and immediate needs for family members until we can generate an income.

$5,500 for Surgery and Medical Support: This will cover vital surgery and medical expenses for my mother and aunt, ensuring they receive the necessary treatments and post-operative care for a full recovery.

$2,000 to Cover GoFundMe's Transaction Fees: Which is %2.9 + $0.30 per transaction.

I plead to you again to help us evacuate and keep us all together. We appeal to your kindness and generosity. Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.

I also ask you to please share this fundraiser with others. Help can come from the most surprising places. We deeply appreciate your contribution and extend our love, support, and gratitude to you all!

P.S. Due to difficulties in receiving funds directly into a Gaza-based bank account, my uncle, Mohammed Abdelkariem Alyazji, who lives in Belgium, is the beneficiary of the fundraiser. All collected funds will be sent directly to me.

Mohammed and his family!

My family
We have been displaced eight times with nowhere to return to, facing a new reality that we never imagined. My family, spanning four generations, bears the weight of this onslaught with me, including children and the elderly.

  • My grandparents, Abdelkareem (75) and Jamila (64) find themselves unable to withstand the harsh conditions. They both suffer from chronic diseases and need urgent medical attention.
  • My mother, Sara (45), our backbone and safe haven, suffers from hypertension and heart disease and needs urgent access to medication and medical care. We’re struggling to find her medicine due to limited availability.
  • Myself (28), the eldest in the family, always striving for growth. In December 2021, I took a significant step and purchased my new apartment for $60,000. I spent over two years paying the installments, but the flames of war have tragically destroyed it.
  • My eldest sister, Shourooq (27), and her husband Raouf (36), also lost their home and store during the aggression. They have three kids: Jouaan (6), Ward (5), and 10-month-old, Sham.
  • My sister, Diana (24), is a mother of 7-year-old triplets, Moeen, Yousef, Sara, and 5-year-old Mohammed. Diana has also lost her home and is taking care of her kids on her own under very difficult circumstances as her husband is currently stuck in Egypt and is not able to get them out of Gaza.
  • My brother, Ahmed (23), who assisted my father in our business, which has been entirely devastated.
  • My sister, Asmaa (22), is an ambitious graphic designer and a recent graduate with a degree in multimedia.
  • My youngest brother, Mahmoud (15), a student deprived of education for months now due to the non-stop aggression. He’s a beacon of hope who aspires to be an engineer and also likes to support his father’s business.

What we went through
The ongoing crisis in my city is intensifying daily. Countless families, including my own, have had their homes and businesses destroyed.

A video depicts the damage sustained by my family's home and store following the bombing in our neighborhood.

My family and I have been displaced six times with nowhere to return to, facing a new reality that we never imagined.

This video was taken during our third evacuation in southern Gaza, showing the random bombings in the area where we were staying.

Like millions in Gaza, we are all suffering to find safe shelter, food, clean water, and many other necessities, but my heart breaks the most for the little ones, my nieces and nephews, whose childhood innocence has been stolen by the brutality of war and whose laughter has been replaced by the haunting echoes of bombs.
