Urgent appeal to evacuate Ahmed from Gaza

My name is Jess, and I am based in the Netherlands. I'm co-fundraising with Ahmed Abu Sharar, who will be the sole beneficiary of the funds raised. We met through the organization Manara in January 2023, where I was selected to help Ahmed improve his spoken English and soft skills. Since then, our bond has grown into a strong friendship.

Before the war, Ahmed lived a normal, happy life. He was a passionate follower of football, closely following the UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, and the Spanish La Liga. Sometimes he and his friends would play football together at the local pitch. They also enjoyed hosting barbecues and camping on the beach, making the most of the seaside near their homes.

Witnessing Ahmed and his family endure the hardships of war in Gaza has been heartbreaking. Despite the challenges, Ahmed's resilience is remarkable. Over the past seven months, Ahmed has been financially supporting his family, as they lost their sources of income due to the war. Although Ahmed also lost his income, he has been using the little savings he had. Now, these funds are nearly depleted.

I've seen firsthand his determination to rebuild his life and return to work. That's why I'm committed to supporting him in any way I can.

Our goal is to raise funds to help Ahmed escape Gaza and establish a safe and stable life for himself so he can further help his family. Initially, we aim for him to leave Gaza safely so he can continue his journey in Egypt in search of job opportunities.

The war has been devastating for Ahmed, resulting in significant loss, including loss of his vital work experience at Torood and Dash Co., and a temporary displacement from his home due to heavy conflict in his hometown. During this period, Ahmed tried to salvage his work, but due to poor internet connectivity and frequent power outages, it has been nearly impossible.

To access basic utilities, Ahmed has had to travel to other areas, putting his life in frequent danger due to the regular bombings. Despite these struggles, Ahmed has recently managed to enrol in an online cloud computing course, in an attempt to continue to develop himself in his field (computer engineering); he remains determined to forge a better future for himself and his family.

We would really appreciate your help to get Ahmed to safety, and secure himself a new life. The funds raised through this campaign will be used explicitly to secure safe passage for Ahmed out of Gaza, and to support his resettlement in Egypt. Specifically, 12,000 EUR is required for security coordination fees, and the means to establish his life safely.

Upon successful fundraising, we will coordinate with recognised and trusted humanitarian organisations to ensure the secure and direct transfer of funds to cover the relocation and resettlement expenses.

All funds donated will go directly to Jess’ bank account which she will transfer to Ahmed via a direct bank transfer. We are committed to transparency and will provide updates to our donors on the progress and use of the funds.
