Support Families in War-Torn Sudan: A Fight for Survival

My name is PD Khal, a 27-year old disabled individual, and I am the voice of a resilient community in Sudan that has come together in the face of unimaginable hardship. We are 120 men, women, and children, united by not only our shared struggles but by our collective determination to survive in a country torn apart by war and violence.

Our community includes those who have lost limbs to war, families mourning the loss of loved ones, and individuals fleeing persecution. Children who have lost their parents and have no one to care for them. Tragically, we were once over 570, but starvation, disease, and violent attacks have claimed the lives of so many. We are now fighting not just for survival, but for the chance to rebuild our lives in safety.

LIFE IN A WAR-TORN LAND

In this war-ravaged environment, survival is an ongoing battle. Settlement camps, which should be sanctuaries, are overcrowded, underfunded, and dangerous. For us, the journey to safety is not just physically demanding it is deadly. As we flee from one camp to another, we lose loved ones to hunger, sickness, and violence.

When there are no donations to sustain us, we are forced to make difficult decisions to survive. Men and boys risk their lives venturing into the bush to search for anything edible snakes, birds, or even insects. When even these efforts fail, we are forced to eat tree bark and animal skins just to stay alive. This is the grim reality we face every day.

OUR MOST URGENT CHALLENGES

1. STARVATION AND DEHYDRATION: Hunger and thirst are constant threats. Clean water is scarce, and food is often impossible to find.

2. UNSAFE SHELTER: Our shelters offer little protection from the elements or from the violence around us. Bombings and attacks are daily occurrences, and overcrowding makes the situation even more dangerous.

3. MEDICAL NEGLECT: Many of us are injured or ill, and access to medical care is virtually nonexistent. For those with disabilities, the lack of essential items like wheelchairs and prosthetics exacerbates the suffering.

4. ONGOING THREATS: Even in settlement camps, we face harassment, discrimination, and constant fear of further violence. The threat to our lives is ever present.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US REBUILD HOPE

We are reaching out to you because we cannot face this crisis alone. Your support can make a life-changing difference. By donating to this campaign, you will help provide:

•FOOD AND WATER: Ensuring no one in our community goes another day without nourishment.

•SAFE SHELTER: Securing better living conditions that protect us from the elements and the dangers we face.

•MEDICAL SUPPORT: Offering treatment for injuries, illnesses, and trauma, as well as providing mobility aids for those who are disabled.

•SECURITY AND STABILITY: Funding essential resources like solar panels or generators to light up our spaces, making them safer and more secure.

Additionally, we are calling on those who can assist us in more long-term and transformative ways:

1. ADOPTION OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN: Many orphaned children in our community have no one to care for them. If you are able to adopt or sponsor a child or anyone, you could provide them with the opportunity to live a future free from fear and suffering.

2. REPRESENTATION IN SAFE COUNTRIES: We dream of finding safety and stability in countries where we can rebuild our lives. If you or your organization can help advocate for our resettlement, it would be an invaluable act of kindness.

3. DONORS AND SPONSORS: We are appealing to donors who can help us relocate to safer locations or provide the essential resources we need to survive in the meantime.

A STORY OF RESILIENCE AND HOPE

Despite everything we have endured, we refuse to give up. Our ultimate hope is to cross the border into a safer country where we can begin anew—where our children can grow up free from fear, where we can heal as a community, and where we can live with dignity.

Your donation will not only help us survive but also restore hope to a community that has been beaten down yet continues to fight for a better future.

A CHANCE TO CONNECT WITH US

If you wish to see our situation firsthand, I welcome the opportunity to connect with you directly. Through this GoFundMe page via email, D:) Presley will provide you with my WhatsApp or email details, allowing you to speak with me and understand the challenges we face. Your words of encouragement would mean the world to us.

FUNDRAISER MANAGEMENT

This campaign is managed by Presley, a compassionate supporter from the U.K., who has witnessed our struggles and stepped forward to help. Since GoFundMe is unavailable in Sudan, Presley will receive the donations and transfer them directly to me using WorldRemit, ensuring every contribution is used to meet our community’s urgent needs.
