My name is Alma-K Francis, and myself and my cousins - Sheril Mendes, Phoebe Fortune, Abigail Fortune & Davinia Joseph, are proud members of the Fortune-Wilson family, with deep roots in the enchanting island of Carriacou. This small, breath-taking piece of paradise in the Caribbean, only 13 square miles in size, is known for it's crystal-clear waters, lush landscapes, and vibrant culture. Carriacou has always been a beacon of beauty and tranquility in the Caribbean, with it's kind and welcoming people, low crime rates, and a strong sense of community that makes it one of the safest and most hospitable places in the world.

However, this tight-knit community now faces an unprecedented crisis. On 1st July, 2024, Hurricane Beryl unleashed it's fury on Carriacou, leaving a trail of devastation in it's wake. Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods shattered, and the island's infrastructure severely damaged. The ageing population of Carriacou, who have spent their lives nurturing this island, are now struggling to find their footing amidst the ruins.

Carriacou's residents rely heavily on agriculture and livestock as their primary sources of income. The fertile lands that once provided sustenance and economic stability have been decimated, leaving many without the means to support their families. The livestock, a crucial part of their livelihood, has also suffered greatly, compounding the community's hardship.

The people of Carriacou are resilient and strong, but they cannot rebuild alone. They need our help. I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea to support a fundraising campaign to aid the recovery and rebuilding efforts in Carriacou. Your contributions will go directly towards providing essential supplies, rebuilding homes, restoring infrastructure, and helping the island's residents regain their sense of normality.
