Lifesaving Care for Mozy: Alicia and Justin's Beloved Pup

Donation protected
UPDATE: AT 12:30AM, Mozy enjoyed a lot of chocolate and cookies and so many hugs and kisses. He is now out of all pain and looking over all of us. We appreciate all of your support so incredibly much....words cannot even say how grateful we are for all of you! We took him to a specialist after a horrific call at 8pm. Specialist said he wasn't releasing urine and that it was most likely going into his abdomen and that he was also bleeding from his GI tract, causing blood and bacteria to also eneter the abdomen. He had become anemic and with exploratory surgery the chances would be poor for him to make it through.

We will always love and cherish every second we spent with our little boy, cozy Mozy.

2/12/25 UPDATE: Alicia and Justin thought Mozy made progress today... he was breathing on his own, he's off oxygen! However at 8pm while eating birthday dinner with Justin's parents, Karen and Carl, and with a surprise visit from Alicia's best friend Crystal and her boyfriend Mike. The doctors called to say Mozy needs to go to a specialist because he's not producing urine and could have a tear in his urethra track. They are picking up Mozy to take him to the specialist tonight for more evaluation.

My name is Ryan Koepke and I am one of Alicia Koepke's brothers. Late night on February 10th, 2 days before Alicia's birthday, one of Alicia's cherished fur children, Mozy, slipped out of the house at around 10pm to visit some new friends across the busy street that backs up to Alicia's yard. A car traveling way too fast struck the 1-year-old pup, causing some extensive damage. Alicia's boyfriend and favorite brewer, Justin, scooped Mozy up and they rushed him to the emergency room where Mozy drifted in and out of consciousness while being worked on. We spent most of the early morning at the hospital.

Mozy is currently fighting for his life. He currently has a broken femur that will require surgery, which at this point is the least of our worries. He has excessive swelling, lung bruising, and fluid build-up. He is under 24-hour surveillance at the hospital for the next several nights as we pray for swelling and fluids to recede for further evaluation and testing.

Mozy is young and a fighter. Anyone who has met him knows he is full of energy and life, so to see him in this condition has taken its toll on us. Anyone who knows Alicia and Justin are not ones to reach out for charity, but I feel compelled to do so for them.

We anticipate that he may need one if not a few operations along with numerous medical procedures and rehab. We were able to visit him to give him some pets last night and he wagged his adorable tail.

While we are generally givers and not takers, we now find ourselves in a situation that requires us to ask for the kindness of strangers to show their love and support to Alicia and Justin (and Rona the dog who has been laying by Mozy's crate all day).

A dollar, your Super Bowl coin toss bet winnings, whatever you can spare. Anyone who knows Alicia and Justin know that Alicia constantly is showing off her pups, showing Furbo camera video of them at home, or just sharing stories and snaps about their adventures.

I pledge you this:

1. I will provide updates on Mozy through this posting.

2. Every cent will go to the medical bills. No exceptions.

3. Every cent made OVER the cost of the medical bill will be donated to trusted animal organizations vetted by myself, Justin's mom, and Staley the dog's mom and dog lover Cynthia Palmer.

4. We will never forget the kindness shown from our friends and family.

Thank you - kisses, hugs, and belly rubs,

Ryan J. Koepke
