Urgent: Colton Needs a Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Colton is a sun-loving, energetic, baseball fanatic who makes friends wherever he goes. He enjoys surfing, playing video games, and spending time with his friends and family. Colton just finished playing a 4-game tournament with his travel baseball team this past weekend. He continued his week back at school while coming off Spring Break, and life seemed to continue the way it normally does. Nothing could have prepared this family for what came next.
On March 26th, Colton's parents took him to the doctor for what they thought was strep throat. Never did they believe that a simple doctor's appointment would turn into their child being placed in the ICU at Arnold Palmer Hospital. At that time, tests revealed that Colton's kidney function was extremely low and his electrolytes were off. The hospital continued monitoring him, pumping him full of fluids, and continuing their testing only to reveal that his kidneys were not fully developed and are currently only functioning at about 15% to 20%. This terrible news came with being told that Colton will need a kidney transplant. The family is currently working with the hospital to place Colton on a medication regimen that will allow him to be medically stable enough to travel to Philadelphia, where he will undergo further testing to make sure they are on the right path and get the ball rolling on the transplant.
Christa, Colton's mom, is an elementary teacher while Colton's father, Mike, just recently retired as a police officer. This family has been faced with an abrupt halt in employment and has an urgent need for funds for travel, loss of wages, the cost of the transplant, as well as all other bills and costs that come with this kind of news.
We are asking our community, friends, families, even strangers to please consider donating to this family to help ease their financial burden. Thank you for taking the time to read about this family's need and we are asking that you please send prayers for them at this difficult time.
