Urgent dental work for person with brain disease
Donation protected
Hello. I am fundraising because my urgent dental need has threatened to capsize our already sinking financial boat.
We are a disabled couple. He is a veteran who served for 10.5 years with three deployments. His disabilities are managed through the VA system, thankfully. Mine aren’t and I don't qualify for social security for a non-medical reason.
In 2021, I was accepted into my dream law school in Chicago, and we moved across the country. All the math worked: a 50% scholarship from school and the stipend from my husband’s earned Chapter 35 education benefit made the finances work.
But when I started attending the summer session, my body and mind started to fall apart. Then I was diagnosed with CADASIL, the aforementioned degenerative disease. I had to let go of my legal dreams. But that lost us 21% of our income and our medical bills grew..
We want to move to somewhere affordable within our diminished means that supports my diminishing capacity, around friends and family.
While trying to make that happen I learned that I have a jaw infection and need urgent dental surgery and several restorative procedures. This sets us back in a situation that we’re already losing in.
This fundraiser's goal is to pay for the dental work that I need: root canal, extraction, removal of infection, restorative surgery with bone grafts, implants to rebuild chomping capacity, redo of old fillings. All of the work is to be done with long term minded solutions because as my CADASIL progresses, I will likely get more phobic and fighty.
If we exceed that goal, that will give us the opportunity to finish a couple small projects enabling us to leave this house and help us leave here and find a home that works with my dimishing capacity and our income.
We’re reaching out to our community to ask for a little bit of help from a whole lot of you. Hopefully, I can get these procedures done quickly with your help. And Ethan and I can make our last move to to where we have lots of friends and family and is sustainably within our means.
Thank you so much for watching. We appreciate your help whether that's through boosting our post with shares or donations.
Thank you
