Night walk to raise urgent funds for dear friend’s treatment

Urgent fund raiser to get a very dear friend Jon Ward the targeted treatment he urgently needs.

I will be joining Katie walking a night walk through the Southdowns to fund raise for Jon. Alot of you will know Jon personally but for those who have kindly made it here and don't know Jon, he is a very kind warm and enthusiastic person who had the shocking news a year ago that he has pancreatic cancer. Jon is brimming with creativity that he shares and uplifts many people with. Jon and his partner Bryony met in really unique circumstances during the early days of his treatment and have a deep and beautiful connection. Naturally, they wish to remain together and have a family and make many years of happy memories together.

I have been visiting Jon weekly to drop off organic veggies to help him stay strong and I can truly say I have so much respect for him and his partner. They have been so intelligent, strategic, resourceful and, most importantly, consistently positive in the way they have researched and embraced every possible option on this planet. Jon has been fighting incredibly hard to succeed against this Pancreatic cancer, and has done incredibly well combating it and to get to this point and has had good success in keeping it from progressing until recently. It is however an aggressive form of cancer that is devious and does its best to outsmart treatment, and despite all efforts, the efficacy of chemotherapy has diminished recently and the NHS are no longer offering it to him.

The best option for Jon is a type of specialised precision therapy that, whilst extremely promising in its results, is not an option offered on the NHS. It is now a matter of urgency to get Jon to Germany for the treatment he needs that will allow him to keep fighting with the aim of remission and, ultimately, the elimination of this malicious cancer. There are people in the world who have managed to defy the odds with this type of cancer, some people have reached remission, others have stabilised their condition through treatments such as the targeted therapy Jon is aiming to access.

Given the massive lengths Jon has gone to keep himself as fighting fit as possible he is an excellent candidate for the treatment. With one last push of everyone fundraising together it is within reach to get Jon access as soon as possible.
