Urgent fundraiser for Jon
Donation protected
I’m going to go on a night walk with my friend Kira in the hope of urgently raising some funds to help someone very dear to me and so many, Jon. Jon has been battling pancreatic cancer over the last year, undergoing major surgery as well as many gruelling rounds of chemotherapy. Despite his amazing strength, totally changing his lifestyle, diet, taking some incredible adaptogenic mushrooms, oxygen therapy, walking with his loving fiancé, meditation, and some very promising signs of the tumour shrinking not long ago, he has recently had the news that the tumour in his liver has become resistant to treatment, meaning that his NHS treatment in the UK has stopped. He has the option to travel to Germany for some precision therapy. Sadly, this is incredibly expensive, therefore myself and others are doing what we can to try to raise some funds to help him access this urgent, life saving and life prolonging treatment. The sooner we can raise the total amount, the greater chance of remission. Every day that passes makes a difference.
Why a night walk? Due to the urgency with which we need to raise the money for Jon, time constraints mean I am unable to do a longer walk. I thought a way to make it more challenging and different would be to walk at night, to hear and connect to the nocturnal animals and insects. It also seems quite apt as Jon spent so much of his life playing and listening to music in forests and fields! Depending on the conditions we may walk without torches, but certain parts of the route in the South Downs will be quite steep and may require us to take this care. We hope to walk mindfully, inspired very much by my recent retreat to Plum Village in France, where myself and others were able to practice Thich Nhat Hanh’s mindful walking ~ walking gently on the Earth, as though we are kissing the ground with every step ~
Jon is someone who brings so much to the world. He is kind, dependable, insightful, funny, intelligent and a pretty unique spirit. He also had a beautiful experience in hospital, of meeting someone very special and falling in love. Bryony has taken such good care of Jon and supported him on this journey. Jon and Bryony so want to be able to spend more time together in this lifetime, and to have a family. I really hope this will be possible for them and so appreciate any help you are able to give. Any donation of any amount is welcome, if you are not able to donate but able to share with others, that is also massively appreciated.
Thank you,
Katie
