Urgent Help for Afghan Interpreter's Family

My name is Ben Millard. I live in Dallas, Texas. As many of you know and remember, I served in Afghanistan twice for the Army Reserve. While I was there in 2009, I was the interpreter supervisor for my base. I am currently sponsoring and assisting a former Afghan interpreter and his family of 8 fleeing Afghanistan. I'd rather not publish all of his personal information on this open page as he is fleeing a regime that has not and does not appreciate those who helped the United States. This is someone who put in danger his own life and that of his family every day that he interpreted for my team while we were in Afghanistan. He and his family have been working on their special immigrant visas for 4 years. They were finally able to escape Afghanistan last summer and have been in Doha, Qatar, awaiting their visas to the United States. For years, they have been in a refugee status without a permanent place to live, jumping from temporary camp to temporary camp while they awaited their visas. They received their immigration visas through the embassy in Qatar mid-February 2025, right as much of the travel and immigration funding dried up. They were given until the end of March to get to the United States and start the residency process.

I'm raising funds to supplement the meager amounts they have been able to garner from friends, family, and charitable organizations. They need $8,000 for flights from Doha, Qatar, $6,000 to provide temporary lodging for 8 people for at least 3 months, and $6,000 for transportation for the first few months.

Every dollar from this fundraiser will go to supplementing his family's flights to the United States, their temporary housing, job hunt efforts, transportation, and daily sustenance for the transition period.
