Urgent Help for Baby Dulce Maria and her mother Paloma
Donation protected
A few Sundays ago, I preached at a pastor friend’s young church in the small community of Nava, Coahuila, Mexico. I’m drawn to Nava for many reasons and plan to continue serving in that area.
Paloma Ramirez, a young mother (a member of the church), and her 3-month-old baby girl Dulce Maria were involved in a fiery car crash just days after my visit. Both suffered severe burns. Baby Dulce requires much attention due to 2nd and 3rd degree burns to her arm and lower body. Her mother Paloma sustained burns on her legs and feet which are becoming infected.
Unlike in the US where no one can be rejected for emergency care, Mexico does not have such a policy. Cash is required for any treatment up front. If not, only the bare minimum is administered, after which the patient is discharged.
The proper medical treatment at this point for baby Dulce Maria and her mother will cost $700 US. My goal is raise an additional $700 for the familiy's trip to a burn specialist either in Monterrey or Saltillo (which we are currently trying to schedule), medication refills, groceries and life expenses. Any donations beyond this goal will also go towards future care.
My plan is to take donations directly to the family in Nava early next week, and meanwhile research free hospital care and treatment for underprivileged families here in Texas as a hopeful means of their moving forward.
I ask anyone able to assist with a sacrificial donation to this urgent medical need to please do so ASAP. I embrace responsibility to help this family and will continue to personally report here and on Facebook as progress is made.
