Urgent help for frankies treatment

My Name is Annie i am doing this fundraiser for my brother frankie here you will find his story , hi my name is frankie and I have liver cancer and I need your help.

I hope you can take the time to read my story.

It started in 2016 when I went for an eye test. The optician found a tumour behind my eye, so I was referred to Gloucester hospital who referred me to Prof Heinrich Heimann in Liverpool. His diagnosis was that I had Ocular Melanoma, an aggressive cancer of the eye.

My treatment journey began with 5 days of Proton Beam treatment but on the final day a biopsy revealed that the cancer would almost certainly go to my liver and that it was aggressive.

The following year an MRI scan showed that there were tumours on my liver and I was seen by Dr Joseph Sacco, an oncology consultant who said that there was not a lot they could do but recommended a course of immunotherapy treatment. The chances of it working on my cancer were just 10%, but what did I have to lose, so I went with it but after 3 sessions ended up in hospital very ill for 4 weeks.

At a further consultation Dr Sacco informed me of the forthcoming trial of a procedure known as percutaneous hepatic perfusion (PHP) during which the liver is temporarily isolated from the body’s circulatory system, and a 30 minute infusion of a high dose chemotherapy agent is delivered directly to it. My treatment was successful and put my cancer in remission.

Although the treatment is now available at many of Europe’s leading oncology centres with over 1000 treatments to date it is sadly not available on the NHS, nor will they fund it.

I have now been in remission for six years but regrettably the cancer has returned.. It costs £45,000 a treatment and as I am not able to turn for help to the NHS I am appealing for your help.
