Urgent Help for Leroy's Vet Bills

Hi, I’m Marcella. I’m a single mom of four kids and adopted Leroy a year ago from a woman who gave him up due to leaving him in a cage for 10+ hours a day. I rescued him and he’s been quite the companion to me and my children.

a week and a half ago it was a day like any other and I put my dog outside on his lead in the backyard. Somehow after 30 seconds of me turning my back he started whimpering and crying in pain. I brought him in and he was bleeding and holding up his leg. The neighbors dog bit my dogs paw and skinned his wrist/tendon. He has a broken metatarsal and several puncture wounds and a skinned tendon. I took him to the emergency vet and they wanted $1000+ to fix him and I cried thinking how there’s no way I could afford that. I left the vet with my injured dog thinking I’d have to surrender him to the APL to get him the help he needed. It tore me apart and had my kids in tears. I was able to find a different vet the following morning but to get him sedated, X-rays, and then wound care and a splint it was $552!

we decided not to do stitches because it was less expensive, but I had to take him back for a follow up appointment after a week. They sedated him, did a wound check, and re-splinted him. That was $198!!

so now I’ve spent $750 on this little dog I got for free to save him. I can’t afford this! that was my kids birthday money and Easter money!

I spoke with the neighbors about what happened and they said “I’ll see what I can do to help” but nothing yet and honestly I don’t think I’ll get anything. My neighbors moved in a few months back and used to be homeless. They’re getting back on their feet and I doubt they’re going to be able to help (though technically this is their cost, and I’m stuck footing the bill)

if anyone has it In their heart to help cover the costs for my little Leroy it would mean the world to me! I’m out here trying my best and this was some random accident totally out of my control. My dog was tethered in his own backyard and the neighbors dog bit him through the fence. Please help!!!
