Help us with rising alfalfa costs for Los sagrados

Our Mexican nonprofit, LOS SAGRADOS, is launching this fundraiser to support our herd's rising food and medical costs for our herd of 8 horses and 2 donkeys. Due to the lack of rain, our hay and food costs have inflated by 40%. We are facing a huge increase in packs of alfalfa, which has been beyond challenging. We also need to raise funds for vaccines, medical support services for 4 horses' teeth filing, and all 8 of our herd desperately need farrier visits.

Summer season, which has few visitors in the tropics due to the high temperatures, left us with little financing & support for our herd.

Our ranch did its best during the extreme heat, high temperatures tropical summer months, June through October. Now we face another challenge, with higher operational costs.

Our horse and donkey sanctuary rescue ranch is in the backcountry of Baja California Sur in El Pescadero, one hour north of Cabo San Lucas. Although this is a comprehensive emergency fund, our current focus is the hay costs and operating costs to sustain this herd for December and January.

At Los Sagrados, we believe we can help change the way animals are handled here, with education and our focus is on supporting our children with positive nature-based activities to make an impact on empowering children and leading with the healing power of horses to enhance mental health and support equestrian therapy for disabled children. We also strive to serve more kids with cognitive and behavioral & special needs.

By providing a safe space and a healing rehabilitation sanctuary for animals in need, we also welcome school visits and love to share nature-based education on large animals for children. This year, we provided 7 scholarships for local kids in our community to experience a horse camp that was life-enhancing and changed their awareness!

Our rescue ranch’s intention is to create a safe and respectful place to heal with loving-kindness and protect animals while they heal, return to wellness, and find their center. We are practicing equine-assisted learning and therapeutic riding for disabled and special needs children and adults. We use empowering exercises to help heal both horse and human and work with local addiction centers to support trauma to create a positive, empowering human-helping-horse energetic bond.

A group of volunteers, along with our ranch manager, welcome the community around us to participate and collectively engage in the healing and help create a harmonious community.

Your supportive donation money supports: purchasing vaccines and medical supplies, hay, grain and supplements, and much-needed gates to be installed and additional water zones.
