Urgent Help for Maimouna's Medical and Rent
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Maimouna Diaw. I am 60 years old and I was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a bone/blood cancer that eats away at your bone marrow. Due to having this cancer, I have already broken my hip and femur, and the doctors say that it is only a matter of time before I break my collarbone and possibly even my spine as well. These are the places where they have found lesions and have seen my bone marrow decreasing.
With all of the chemotherapy, doctor's visits, and being in rehab for my broken hip, I have fallen behind drastically on my rent and bills. Most days, I am completely out of it due to all of the meds they have me taking, and the days that I'm not, I'm either doing chemotherapy or trying my best to see as many clients as I can so I can put some money towards all of this. No matter how much I try, I have fallen so far behind that nothing is working.
My landlord told me that I have until May 1st to come up with at least $3,500 or I will be evicted. I wasn't born in the United States, so all of my family is overseas. If I am evicted, I will have nowhere to go. I can't think of anywhere else to turn to for help. All of the rental assistance places I've tried do not currently have open applications, and I am scared and worried about what will happen to me if I can't pay my rent.
