Urgent Help for Pastor Russell's Recovery
Donation protected
I am starting a Go Fund Me for my husband, Pastor Russell Peters who fell gravely ill in the mountains of Guatemala while on a missions trip. The origin of Russell's illness was brought on by gallstones which caused vomiting and severe pain which led to pancreatitis. By not being able to hold down food or his diabetic medicines, his blood sugar rose to 500. Russell was in San Cristobal four hours from proper medical care. Once moved to a hospital in Guatemala City, Russell received IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medicines and insulin. He was diagnosed with diabetic keto acidosis and pancreatitis. He has a lot of inflammation in the abdomen and is in a lot of pain with the pancreas. He was too weak and lost the ability to walk and move on his own. He is responding to treatment but slowly and is still in ICU there.
Our insurance was not accepted and we have already had to spend out of pocket over $30,000. The bills are still rolling in and we still have to get him home and will continue to have mounding medical bills even with insurance kicking in once he's home. We did not have travel insurance.
I am working with our Congress people who are approaching the embassy for us but the government does not offer financial support, and the medical air lifts or doctor/paramedic assistance in flight will be at our expense.
Our faith is strong, but we are walking through a nightmare. We have limited, spotty communication and we are beside ourselves that he does not have family with him and that he is suffering.
As hard as it is to ask....could everyone please, please ask the Lord what you'd be able to give to help us pay our expenses and get Russell home for our insurance to kick in and receive treatment from his physicians. So please....share, share, share....this is going states wide and across continents. Our God is big! Thank you and love you all....Let's bring Russell home!
All funds will pay off the medical in Guatemala, and travel expense, medical assistance all the way home and ongoing medical once returned.
