Urgent Help for Pete: Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
Hey friends - Caroline Kosciusko here with some terrible news. Pete Lensing just lost absolutely everything he owns in a fire. He and his dog are OK, but very traumatized. He’s been working in the PNW as a salesman living out of his truck camper for the last 4 years as his territory is massive and working well for him being mobile.
He had to go back east to work and train in New England for a month, and on his way back west the camper caught fire while driving, and it was too late before a passerby notified him. He opened the camper door and the entire thing was engulfed inside. He emptied two fire extinguishers into it, a cop stopped and emptied hers, but still, it wasn’t enough. He climbed in and got his wallet and propane tanks out, and another bystander helped him get the jacks down so he could get his truck away in time. But he is left with nothing but the clothes on his back, dog, and truck. He just made it to my place in PDX, and we'll be hosting him while he figures out his next steps.
Insuring vehicle homes is very, very hard and limited. Even though this wasn’t Pete’s fault at all, insurance reimbursements are going to be a bitch and take awhile, and honestly don’t sound promising for much (like maybe $3,000). I am able to support Pete for awhile financially, food and a place to live, but he needs to start completely over which will take time, support, and finances.
The most immediate need is clothes. If you have any clothes you'd be willing to donate, he’s a M shirt, 32/28 pant, and 8.5 shoe. Reach out to Caroline for her address and she can help cover the costs of shipping.
Pete is a selfless human who has shown up for me time and time again throughout the years and been a vital part of mine and many others tough times, and hoping we can all rally together to show up for him now and help him get back on his feet.
