Help the Gant Family's Legal and Medical Needs
Donation protected
UPDATE- 11/15/2024
Thank you to everyone who has shared, sent kind words and donated! We are beyond grateful for it all.
We have officially signed the contract with our lawyer and paid our retainer fee in full with the funds raised so far! We will begin making monthly payments in December to start paying the remainder off, right before Christmas. Please keep sharing so we can hopefully raise enough to be able to pay him off before the holidays.
If anyone knows of any places that we can post a flyer with a QR code for people to scan to make it more public, please let us know. Thank you all again so much, it means the absolute world to us!
Why we started this fundraiser.
Hi everyone! My name is Jaime Gant, and my husband is Jason Gant. We were very hesitant to do this, but it has unfortunately come down to this considering we have no other options but to reach out to our family, friends and the community for help.
As most know, we are a blended family. I have two children with my ex, and Jason also has two children with his ex. My kids' father, Carter, is very involved, and we have 50/50 custody with our kids. We all get along great with each other and we are a blended family that love and support each other.
Unfortunately, the biological mother of the youngest two, Noah and Thomas, has abandoned them for almost 2 years now after Jason received sole parental responsibility of both of them in March of 2023. There is no child support coming in because my husband was kind enough to put a hold on it until she did what the court required her to do. She has been in and out of mental hospitals and it’s very hard to get ahold of her. We have successfully contacted her twice over the phone since March of 2023 and she is not taking her medications for bipolar/schizophrenia, so the conversation goes absolutely nowhere. DCF was even willing to testify against her, but she refused to show up to court.
For those who may not know, Noah is autistic and will be 9 years old in December but has the mentality of a 2–3-year-old. He is still in pull ups; he is nonverbal aside from his name and some other words that we use to communicate with him that aren't pictures or having him go pick it up and hand it to us. He has been moved from school to school every year because of the programs being changed in the schools so he progresses and then regresses constantly but we will continue to fight this battle with and for him.
Autism is still being studied and without medical insurance, we cannot get him into any specialists to get him help such as many different therapies and possibly medication as well. We don't know what he needs yet because to see a neuropsychiatrist without any kind of insurance, it is an outrageous amount of money that we just don't have. Despite Jason and I applying for insurance plans for them multiple times, he gets denied because he makes "too much", and I get denied for them, but not my biological two kids because they won't allow me to do anything for Noah and Thomas until I legally adopt them even though Jason and I are married. His job doesn’t offer insurance, or we would go that route, and we are barely getting by monthly as it is.
Thomas has had to go to the ER almost every month for his throat almost swelling shut due to recurring tonsilitis and strep throat because he needs his adenoids and tonsils removed. He has become pretty resistant to antibiotics, so we are on borrowed time to get him the surgery he needs. It's just like Noah's situation though... Without insurance, we cannot afford a surgery that expensive out of pocket.
I unfortunately cannot work anymore because someone has to be available for all 4 kids, especially Noah and Thomas at all times. We have 4 kids in 4 different schools and both Jason and Carter work early and into the late afternoon. Thomas is only in VPK and that goes from 8:30am to 11:30am, so I would need an at home job. If anyone knows of one that is entry level, please let me know! We have made it work so far, but this court case is something we can’t afford but really need right now. We only want what is best for them long term and this is it. Anything helps!
Thank you to anyone who is able to help or just send us good vibes or any good advice. Please share, share, share! ❤️
