❗️Urgent Help for the Hoobyar Family
Donation protected
I'm Michelle Lewing, President of the Autism Coalition of Nevada. Hannah Hoobyar has been a dedicated volunteer. Hannah and her family lost their home, barn, and everything they own in the Davis Fire in Washoe Valley south of Reno, Nevada.
Hannah's family are wonderful community members who have dedicated their lives to serving others who have suffered tragic losses through their non-profit organization "Project Bear Hug". This time, the Hoobyar family is the victim of a ravaging fire. They narrowly escaped the fire by about 20 minutes with only the clothes on their backs.
Here is their story - in their own words:
"2:30 fire starts (identified by smell)
2:45 we can see the flames start climbing the hill (we are hosing down our deck, house, fence, etc.)
3:15 I call 911 asking if evacuation has started yet and they don’t know
3:30 Sheriff's driving down the street with loudspeakers yelling "Evacuate immediately! Get out now! Go order!"
3:45 we pull out of our driveway with all our animals in one car (of course, the mobile mechanic to replace our battery in our second car was supposed to be at the house Tuesday)
4 pm house catches fire
4:15-4:30ish house is gone."
Though they have been able to find a place to live, and begin picking up some of the broken pieces of their lives - they still have a long ways to go in replacing so many basics, as well as a vehicle that was destroyed. There is some insurance funding that is pending - but as renters of the home they lost - there won't be nearly enough.
Please consider a donation to help triage their immediate needs of clothing, shelter, food, and personal items, as well as the replacement of all basics. We would be so grateful...
