Please help our family- Inconceivable Medical Crisis
Hello everyone. My name is Charles Owens, our family Becky, Savannah, and Abel desperately need your help.
It has been a very difficult year for us with numerous medical conditions continuing to arrise and worsen throughout our household.
Starting in January 2023 our Daughter Savannah (16) was diagnosed with Crohns disease and has spent the majority of the time since then, sick and in and out of WVU children's hospital for treatments and care. She is currently waiting on intestinal surgery once the inflammation decreases and she has been on intravenous TPN 18 hours per day since June 5th, 2024.
Round 2 of the nightmare..
On July, 12th 2024 my Fiance' Becky had a heart attack with a 90% blocked Right Coronary Artery, they put in a Stent to reopen the artery. She was out of work for a very short period of time due to her management position, she briefly returned to light duty work. Briefly is the key word..
Round 3.
- About 3 weeks ago on August 1st our boy Abel (12) went in for an eye exam due to poor vision and headaches. During the exam they found a more serious cause and scheduled scans. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and the next day 8/2/24 he underwent brain surgery at WVU to have the tumor removed. The doctors were able to remove most of the tumor, but not all of it. He was discharged on the 8th to recover at home while the Dr's put a plan together for radiation and chemotherapy to remove the remaining tumor. During the short time at home his mobility and speech briefly improved until the headaches and other symptoms started coming back. Two days ago on 8/22 he was taken to a local ER due to sever headaches and vomiting. They immediately sent him back to WVU where after tests and scans they found the tumor had regrown and started blocking his spinal fluid. They found the new growth is in an inoperable location and are currently making a plan for treatment. They are currently saying 6 weeks of daily radiation to try and reduce the tumor.
That brings us to today 8/24/24.
Becky is staying at the hospital with Abel and I have been at home with Savannah and taking care of the household duties and staying local for work now that we are down to 1 income.
We were both raised to never ask for help or accept things we didn't earn. We are both very hard working individuals but life has hit us very hard and will continue to do so with the kids surgery's, treatments and all of the upcoming unknowns.
Becky has been out of work for almost a month and we were barely scraping by with a double income household. Things are tight now, and we need some help.
We would appreciate any and all help we could recieve.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Sincerely,
- Charles, Becky, Savannah, and Abel.
