URGENT HELP FOR OUR TÍA YOLET’S LIFE-SAVING CARE IN VENEZUELA

A Devastating Brain Hemorrhage and Limited Medical Resources

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we, the Flores, Caraballo, and Chirinos family, share the devastating news that our beloved Tía Yolet, one of the matriarchs of our family and Tulio's Godmother, suffered a catastrophic brain bleed this past Thursday. Our family is completely heartbroken, and the situation is made even more difficult by the severe limitations of medical care in Venezuela.

Despite our best efforts, she is not receiving the urgent, specialized care she desperately needs due to the collapsed healthcare system in her home country. In Venezuela, receiving adequate medical care requires paying in cash, in U.S. dollars, upfront—from the ICU stay to every medication and procedure a patient requires. Without immediate payment, even critical, life-saving treatments can be delayed or denied entirely. If she were here in Miami, she would be under the expert care of some of the best neurointerventional surgeons in the world— the doctors I work with daily. However, in Venezuela, she is fighting for her life in a hospital that lacks critical medical equipment, specialists, and even basic supplies like blankets.

Tía Yolet’s Medical Emergency
Tía Yolet’s leading diagnosis is an extensive acute non-traumatic Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, likely caused by a ruptured aneurysm, with extension into her 3rd and 4th ventricles—a condition with a very high risk of fatality if left untreated. However, due to the lack of advanced imaging and specialists, the exact etiology of her bleed cannot be confirmed, and the life-saving procedure she needs is simply not available.

After gathering what little we could, our family was able to pay for an ambulance to transfer her to Maracaibo (the second largest city in the Country)—but even there, care is direly insufficient. Last night, in a desperate attempt to prevent fatal brain swelling, surgeons performed a bilateral decompressive craniectomy. She remains intubated, sedated, and in critical condition.

The hospital does not have the tools to properly monitor her intracranial pressure, nor access to the necessary specialists who could intervene to save her life. Our family was even asked to bring blankets from home—a stark reminder of the unimaginable conditions she is facing.

This hits so deeply close to home as a Neurointerventional Surgery Nurse Practitioner and knowing that if she were here in Miami, my brilliant team of doctors would be giving her the most outstanding VIP care. Currently, her prognosis is extremely guarded.

Understanding the severity of her current illness and trying to translate what I know to our family and to a community of doctors with limited resources is the most helpless feeling I have ever experienced.

How You Can Help Save Tía Yolet
This is an urgent plea for help. We are raising $25,000 to cover:
✔ Emergency medical expenses, including ICU care
✔ Specialist consultations and potential transfer to a better-equipped facility
✔ Medications and life-saving interventions not provided by the hospital
✔ Ongoing post-surgical care and rehabilitation

We Need a Miracle—And Your Support Can Make It Happen
We urgently need your help to give Tía Yolet a fighting chance at survival. Every dollar will go directly toward her medical expenses, ensuring she receives the best care available under these dire circumstances. Even if you are unable to donate, please share this campaign with your networks—the more people we reach, the closer we get to helping save her life.

Our family is praying for a miracle, and we ask you to keep Tía Yolet in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, kindness, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,

The Flores, Caraballo, and Chirinos Family
