Urgent Help for WNC Hurricane Relief

WNC has been devastated by Hurricane Helene. Operation We are Love (OWL), based out of Asheville, NC, and was founded by Rhiannon Burk and the WNC Community. Since Hurricane Helene, many have been stranded and without food, water, and vital resources, specifically related to being unhoused and / or under resourced in the cold weather. We formed, in response to this natural disaster, and we have been working out of our West Asheville mutual aid location, to get essential resources to our community via generous donations, of people like you.
- Who is overseeing the withdrawal of funds, into what bank account: Rhiannon Burk, in collaboration with the Operation We are Love (OWL) accountant, and Arts 2 People, the Non - Profit Sponsor, are overseeing the funds that will be deposited into OWLs and Arts 2 People’s joint checking account.
- Who is responsible for the management of the funds (purchasing, distributing items, etc): The Driving Committee (temporary board members) of OWL and Arts 2 People’s Board manage the funds.
- Will the funds be used for supplies or money? Funds will be utilized for both supplies and financial donations, to both individuals and organizations. These funds will be distributed via use of payment for the direct resourcing of supplies and / or cash, and will be donated based on the financial need of the individual and / or group who are submitting requested use of the funds.
- Timeline for the aid to be offered to individuals: The goal is to continue to fundraise and conroy us donations over the next couple of years, with potential plans of becoming OWL becoming an independent 501c3, that continue to operate indefinitely, serving communities and / or individuals in need, specifically related to natural disarray and / or social epidemics.
