Urgent Help Needed for Emergency Move
Donation protected
I'm raising emergency funds to help me move!
I've been living at my current residence for nearly 8 years, but due to my landlord suddenly wanting to fix the old piping in her house and presumably raising the rent after the fact, she's asked me to move. If these were normal circumstances, I could handle this myself; however, she is being insistent that I move ASAP. I know I have rights as a renter and she has yet to provide me with a written notice, but she has started the repairs on the house while I'm still living there. She's turned off the water and left me, my brother and my cats with nowhere to go. I'm currently couch surfing at my dad's house since he luckily has space for my brother already and my cats will have a temporary place to be with their original foster moms, but these are all very temporary solutions. I need to move ASAP!
I've got a plan and a few apartments that I believe I can qualify for if I apply and I have the ability to put down a security deposit. However, the immediate costs of moving, application fees and general daily costs like gas and food are a bit harder for me to cover right now. My dad is helping where he can, but I have large appliances and bulky furniture that I need to get out of my old house as soon as I can. I want to start packing this week (9/16-9/20) but I need help getting moving supplies like boxes in bulk, packing tape, trash bags and the like. I have a very small group of friends and family that will be helping me physically move some items, but I'll also need to rent a truck, pay for gas and possibly even temporary storage.
Absolutely anything donated will help, especially with application fees so I can find a place and secure it with my deposit payment. If I can time everything right, I shouldn't need storage and should be able to move most of my furniture directly into my new home. I'm setting the goal to be out of my old house at the latest by the last week of October (10/25-11/1), but I'm trying everything in my power to be out before then. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
