Urgent Help Needed for Jason's Power Bill

My name is Jason and I am a 52-year-old semi-disabled man from Georgia, USA.

Four years ago I was in a near-fatal car crash and as a result I now have limited mobility. I am not eligible for disability benefits because I am able to do some jobs.

In January of 2024 I was let go by my employer and have had no luck finding employment. Most of the jobs I am qualified to do involve someone who is better able to walk and stand.

My electric bill for July was over $1,000 US and the next bill promises to be just as high. It is Summer in Georgia, so the temps tend to hit 100° F during the day.

My roommate is on a fixed income and neither he nor I can afford this bill. I have a tenant in the basement but his rent payments barely keep our other bills current. Plus he is moving out at the end of July.

I am eligible for flat-rate billing from Georgia Power, but not until I can get this current bill paid. Plus I've gotten a disconnect notice so my situation is looking bleak.

I'm asking for help with this power bill. Anyone who knows me knows I hate asking for financial help from anyone but my back is against a wall here.
