Urgent Help Needed for Life-Changing Retina Transplant
Donation protected
Early this September I lost my sight and the use of my right eye due to retinal tears and detachments. Over the past 8 weeks I've had to have 2 surgeries (vitrectomy) to correct a retinal detachment in my right eye. Unfortunately the procedures have not gone as planned and my retina is still detaching. I'm in the process of trying to receive a retina transplant before my central vision is damaged beyond repair. The cause for my retina issues at the moment have not been determine or probably caused by only one thing, it could be due to one or a combination of medical issues. I have a severe astigmatism in both eyes and I'm very nearsighted which make this issue a bit more common. Also the issues I have with my blood pressure and hypertension paired with the genetic disorder that I was born with (Incontinentia pigmenti) makes me more at risk for this type of issues and could be the reason why I am not responding well to the first 2 surgeries. The transplant will require me to travel out of state and see a specialist that is out of network. This situation creates a financial hardship for myself and family on several levels. As this fundraiser will cover only a portion of out of pocket expenses, I am open to any advice or suggestions if anyone has any experience handling or navigating anything similar, as well as donations to defer any amount of the cost to help make this procedure happen. I appreciate any and all help during this time financially or other. Thank you.
