Urgent Help Needed for Mother's Fire Recovery
Donation protected
At 5:10 am on November 19, I got a phone call that my 80-year-old mother’s house was on fire. Luckily, two hero policemen were first on the scene and entered the burning home and saved my mother’s life! She was transported to the Burn Unit at a nearby hospital. Fortunately, she did not sustain burns. However, she did suffer severe smoke inhalation.
The fire in the home was mostly contained to the living room and kitchen. The fire department told me this was an extremely hot fire. Luckily, the house did not suffer any structural damage. Every room in the house does have severe smoke damage and virtually everything in the house is a loss.
This morning, my mother told me that she had to drop the insurance coverage on the home because she couldn’t afford it. Sadly, my mother receives a shockingly low monthly Social Security and lives extremely modestly and well below the poverty level. She didn’t have much, and what she did have has been destroyed in the fire.
I do my best to financially help my mother; unfortunately, this time we need help. We are desperately asking for help to repair this home and help with some medical costs that are likely to come in the future.
