Urgent Help Needed: Support for Alf Adekunle’s Final Journey

Alfred Adekunle has courageously battled a brain injury for the past 8 years, remaining in a coma with the hope of recovery. Today, he is under hospice care, and we are cherishing every remaining moment we have together. In this time of need, I am reaching out for help.

In 2017, just after returning from work, I received a life-changing call. My beloved husband, Alfred, had suffered a massive cardiac arrest while at work and was rushed to the hospital. When I arrived, I saw him intubated, surrounded by machines, fighting for his life. It was as if my whole world had collapsed. Tears filled my eyes as our journey began.

For 7 years, I held on to hope, praying he would recover. When we exchanged our vows, we promised to be there for each other in sickness and in health, for better or worse. I couldn’t abandon him, even when others encouraged me to move on. My commitment to him remains steadfast, as I believe love honors promises.

In 2023, his medical team advised discontinuing his care due to the unlikelihood of recovery. I pleaded for more time, and they agreed. However, now, nearly two years later, his team has made the difficult recommendation to end his care.

With just a few precious days remaining, Alfred is now in hospice receiving palliative care. My hope is to give him a dignified farewell, honoring the kind and generous man he was. However, I have been out of work for nearly a year and need financial support to make this possible.

Alfred was a gentle soul with a heart of gold, touching countless lives through his compassion, kindness, and wisdom. His legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
