Urgent Help Needed to Prevent Eviction for My Family

Hello, my name is Taylor Shields, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times my family has ever faced.

In January, I lost my job. As the primary financial provider, this has put a tremendous strain on our household. My husband is working hard, but his income alone isn’t enough to cover all of our monthly expenses, including rent.

We’ve applied for rental assistance through CHAP, but when I followed up, I was told they are still processing applications from September 2024. I’ve also contacted several other local organizations, most of which have not yet received funding for this year. While I am now connected with HELP of Southern Nevada and my case has been assigned, I haven’t heard from my case manager yet — and unfortunately, time is running out.

We’re doing everything we can to avoid eviction and stay in our home. We’ve set our GoFundMe goal at $10,000 to help us cover rent for the next few months while I continue to actively look for work. If we can raise at least $6,000 by the end of the month, we’ll be able to keep our housing stable and prevent this crisis from escalating.
