Urgent Help Needed to Rebuild After LA Wildfire Tragedy
Donation protected
My name is Coleto Cargill, and I've been a resident of Los Angeles for over a decade. In my many years here, I've witnessed various natural disasters and even volunteered to assist those affected, including during past wildfires. Today, however, I am heartbroken to share that I am now a victim of the LA wildfires myself—I have lost everything.
Hollywood Hills was more than just a neighborhood; it was home—the longest place I've ever lived in my life. When I first moved to LA, I spent my first year homeless. Through resilience and determination, I was able to build myself up and create a sanctuary, a home that I cherished for over a decade.
Now, my home is gone, burned to the ground in the fires. Along with it, I've lost every possession I've worked so hard to attain, irreplaceable memories from my lifetime, and all the investments I poured into creating a safe space for myself.
My home wasn't just a place—it was my refuge, my stability, my pride. The thought of facing homelessness again is overwhelming. With the rising costs of rent and the housing crisis in Los Angeles, I don't know where to turn. To lose everything as an adult is a nightmare I never thought I'd live again.
This tragedy has also brought my businesses to a standstill, forcing me to pause and focus on grieving and rebuilding from scratch. While I am determined to rise from this, the weight of this moment is unbearable, and I can't do it alone.
I'm reaching out for support to help me begin the process of rebuilding—finding shelter, replacing essential items, and piecing together my life. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference and help ease the burden of this devastating loss.
Thank you for standing with me during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity mean more to me than words can express, and I will carry your support with me as I work toward healing and rebuilding my life.
With love and gratitude,
