Urgent Help Needed to Save Home from Foreclosure

This is highly embarrassing for me to do this again, but I have little choice. As most of you know, I have been fighting for long term disability since July of 2023. I had private insurance through UNUM and was awarded disability in November 2023. I struggled to pay bills from July through November, but it was such a relief to get it.

I was led to believe UNUM's law firm, Brown and Brown, had filed for Social Security disability on my behalf. They had not even contacted B&B about that. I received payments from November until May, when I got notified that they had done another review and despite every doctor saying I am permanently disabled, they think I can work...all based on information that was erroneous.

Long story short, I have put my house up for sale, contacted a lawyer that handles appeals with private insurance companies and also with Lemoine law firm and he used to be a SS disability judge, who is very confident I will get it, but it takes about a year from the time you apply for a decision.

I put my mortgage on a deferment program which is ending on the last day of August. I will owe $5,500. To say there is no way I can come up with that before that date is an understatement and they are already using terms like "default" and "forclosure" . I am struggling to even keep my utilities on at this point and have had my water and power turned off before. I am exploring local churches and programs that give grants for utilities, but have nothing so far.

I have had interest in my house, but no offers so far despite lowering the price. I am working with an agent and we are waiting on an estimate (already done the inspection) from a roofing company and plan to offer a concession to replace the roof. My insurance company already denied about a month or so ago..there is a new law in LA that you can get an independent contractor and if they feel the insurance is wrong, can take them to court. Of course, that takes time, which I don't have.

If you can help, any amount will help. I worked hard as an RN for 32 years and now am at the mercy of you guys. Thanks for listening.
