Urgent Help to Evacuate My Sister and Her Family

My name is Bessan; I'm a Canadian citizen who lives in Ontario. I've created this fundraiser in desperation to help my younger sister and her family leave Gaza. The only way to leave Gaza is from the Rafah border crossing through Egypt, but it comes at a cost. A cost that has drastically increased since the beginning of the war. Asking for financial support is never easy. However, we are left with no choice.

When Canada announced the immigration program, we had hope that Canada would help get their names on the list of people permitted to exit daily. And so, my sister applied for the temporary resident visa almost immediately. However, our hope diminished as the weeks passed with no response from the IRCC.

My sister has lost so much, and her mental health has deteriorated. Continuous nights of air strikes and attacks left my sister and her family with no choice but to leave their home, which has since been completely destroyed (as seen in the pictures above). My sister and her husband have 2 beautiful daughters, ages 4 and 1. Her daughters might not understand what is happening, but they see the destruction, and they hear everything that is happening around them: the air strikes and the cries for help. Their grandfather was killed while at their neighbours, and her daughters ask for him daily. They feel the terror their parents feel, the food insecurity, and the helplessness.

My sister and her family are now displaced in Rafah, living in a tent, and with no end in sight to the rising tensions, no place is safe. She and her daughters are terribly sick with no access to medication.

All I want is for my family to live. For months, I've repeated the same statement. For months, I've felt helpless. My parents, siblings, and all my extended family are in Gaza. I have exhausted all my options in trying to get my immediate family out, all while emotionally and financially supporting them. It is heart-wrenching. I can't sleep, scared to wake up every morning to bad news. And so I humbly ask you to help me get my sister and her family out of Gaza, whether by donating or sharing. I am committed to maintaining full transparency, so please ask any questions you may have.

The funds will be used to pay an Egyptian company that asks for USD 5000 for each adult and USD 2500 for each child. This company puts their names on the list at the Rafah Border to evacuate Gaza. It is the only way to evacuate at the moment.

2500 USD x2= 5000 USD

The total is 15000 USD, which is approximately 20000 CAD.
