URGENT: Help Young Family Escape Genocide in Gaza
Donation protected
My name is Mosab Raafat, and I live with my wife Shimaa, along with my children, Arkan, 5 years old, and Meral, 4 years old, in Gaza.
Before October 7, 2023, we led a simple, dignified, and wonderful life here in Gaza. We lived in happiness until the war came and left us with nothing.
In the summer of 2014, I suffered severe injuries in an Israeli army shelling on Gaza. As a result, I lost both of my legs up to the pelvis area and part of my right hand, and I became dependent on a wheelchair for the rest of my life, a permanent disability. However, I continued my life and did not lose hope in living.
I continued my life with my wife and the two lovely kids. We built a home for ourselves and lived in it happily until the war and its horrors came again in October 2023.
At that time, chapters of pain, torment, and suffering began. Our house was bombed, our lives destroyed, and we became homeless: me, my children, and my wife. We lost everything: our home, our belongings, and our livelihoods, leaving us with nothing.
We lived through difficult days of displacement, searching for water and food, until life here became like hell, if not worse.
Now, my only hope is to protect my small family and leave Gaza to escape the horrors of war and provide a safe and dignified life for my family. It pains us to leave our homeland and country, but we have no other choice.
In order to leave Gaza, it costs $5000 USD per adult (around $6,800 CAD), plus $2,500 USD per child (around $3,400 CAD) in border crossing fees. We have already received enough money for one of us to evacuate, and desperately require the funding for the rest of our small family so that we don't have to separate from each other. Any additional money raised will go towards our food and housing in Egypt, where I hope we can begin to establish a new life for our children, free from death and starvation.
Please help give us a chance at life.
Every contribution from you means so much, and makes our survival possible. Please, help us.
