Urgent Housing Move for Queer Black Organizer
Hey y’all,
So it has been brought to my attention that I need to move out if my current home in the next four weeks. I have been out of work since March, when Modern Cannabis LIED about my position being “completely eradicated due to Covid-19” the dispensary was hiring AND scheduling my colleagues still. I haven’t worked since the first week of March 2020.
Since then, I have moved my burlesque/NSFW shows to online and haven't accrued enough to move and pay rent in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am also asthmatic so moving things into storage & facing homelessness is only going to put me at a higher risk.
I am the Sex Worker who started the Black/Brown Sex Worker Mutual Aide Fund & I believe those funds should be for the community. Which is why I am separately asking my community for help getting a safe apartment for myself where I won’t be subject to toxicity, hopelessness, and won’t have to live with harmful people like I have had to prior to this.
For the passed several years I have been a Social Media Manager for multiple Black-Owned Businesses in Chicago. I grew The Silver Room’s Instagram following from 3-5K to 13K from 2017- August 2019.
I currently work within the arts community to prioritize and uplift Black femme, Black non-binary, & Black trans art in the Chicago community where Black cis men have had more access.
Also Lynzo has been doing ALL of this social media work/SW/organizing work from ONE device for about 5 years now.
I can no longer engage in SW/Dancing due to Covid-19, Modern Cannabis doesn’t care about Black Lives, I don’t have enough space in my current home to dance, study, work, or develop my arts. Iam seeking to efficiently change that,
I am crowd-funding not just for a safe home but also for a space to be myself in. I have moved 7 times in the passed 2.5 years due to unsafe living situations & abusive roommates. I NEED Room to be me for the first time ever. Room to develop all that is Lynzo. A safe space for a non-binary Black femme to safely live, breathe, continue to do this community work, & flourish.
