Urgent Housing Support for Black Trans Woman
Donation protected
UPDATE (October 2020): Brianna has been released!! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported her, she is out of prison and in a stable housing situation. We were also able to buy her a phone and laptop. I will be closing this fundraiser, but she has started a new Gofundme to support legal fees, medical expenses, therapy, and continued support so she can heal from the trauma of incarceration. If you want to support her, you can do so here:

Brianna is being released from prison on January 31, 2020. She has been incarcerated at a men's facility for 3.5 years, and has endured gendered violence as a result of being openly trans in prison. Without family support, her reintegration into the free world is going to be very challenging. Many people leaving prison experience homelessness and food insecurity, and the numbers are even higher for Black trans women.
She will need money to put down a deposit for an apartment and pay the first few months of rent, as well as to buy food, clothes, a cell phone, necessary medical items, and transportation. She is invested in getting employed as soon as possible, but there are significant upfront expenses that can't be avoided. All of the money raised will go directly to supporting her getting onto her feet and safely reentering the community.
