URGENT HUMANITARIAN APPEAL for remaining “Rohingya”in Arakan

URGENT APPEAL: Humanitarian Aid for Rohingya in Buthidaung and Maungdaw Townships in Arakan (Rakhine State), Myanmar

Since October 2023, the Rohingya people in Arakan have been enduring unimaginable suffering due to ongoing conflict between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA), with both groups targeting the Rohingya. At least 2,500 Rohingya have been killed, and more than 250,000 have been displaced this year, while 30,000 have fled to neighbouring Bangladesh.

We, the Rohingya Community in Germany, are coming together to raise essential funds for tens of thousands of Rohingya families suffering in these townships. Since March, the Rohingya in Buthidaung have been under severe restrictions, and those in Maungdaw have faced the same conditions since August, enforced by the Arakan Army (AA). They are confined to specific areas, with no freedom of movement, access to resources, or ability to work for their livelihood. Deprived of all sources of income and with no humanitarian agencies able to provide aid, they are now on the brink of survival, suffering from extreme starvation and the spread of preventable diseases. Children are significantly affected, with many suffering from diarrhoea, leading to tragic fatalities.

Our mission is to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable Rohingya in Buthidaung, beginning with Ward 5, where hundreds of families remain trapped. Many have gone without food for days, and the lack of basic medical care has worsened health conditions, leading to lives lost due to malnutrition and untreated illnesses. This is an unbearable and inhumane reality that demands immediate action.

With your support, we plan to provide emergency assistance and other essentials to help these families survive this critical period. Your donation will enable us to work directly with community contacts to deliver aid and address urgent needs. After reaching families in Ward 5, we aim to expand our efforts to areas like Sein Hnyin Pyar, Nyaung Chaung, and Hpon Nyo Leik villages in Buthidaung and villages in Maungdaw. We will prioritize those most at risk.

In a world where access to basic needs should be a right, not a privilege, the Rohingya of Buthidaung and Maungdaw are suffering from profound neglect and deprivation.
