Urgent medical fundraising appeal
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Well-wishers,
We come to you with a heartfelt plea for help. Dr. Ashmita Neupane, an anesthesiology resident, is currently facing the most challenging battle of her life.
She developed severe dengue infection which got complicated by acute severe liver failure, ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and acute kidney injury. She was admitted to Grande Hospital, Kathmandu, however as her condition did not improve, she had to be air-lifted to New Delhi for specialized care. She is now in ICU in Delhi, fighting for her life. Her condition requires costly treatments, including but not limited to mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy and multiple expensive medications/investigations.
Ashmita is not only a dedicated healthcare professional but also the beloved wife of our friend, Dr Ashok Kharel (MBBS 27th batch IoM, Surgery Residency 2014-2016, IoM).
Ashok Kharel is facing an overwhelming financial burden due to the high cost of Ashmita's treatment. We kindly request your support and contributions to help ease the financial strain on Ashok and ensure Ashmita receives the life-saving treatment that she urgently needs. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference.
UPDATE 11/21/2023
It has been more than 3 weeks since Ashmita’s hospital admission, that she has been fighting with this severe dengue infection and complications. Her clinical improvement has been slow but gradual. ICU stay is prolonged with ARDS, gastrointestinal (GI) bleed, which is now improving. She underwent tracheostomy on 11/16/2023 as part of clinical care, to help for breathe off of ventilator. She is being slowly taken off of ventilator and sedating medications as part of helping her breathe by herself.
This has been possible with help and donations from all of friends and family. But she still has prolonged medical course for recovery and rehabilitation. We are still looking for further help and support from all of you to help her get back her previous self.
