Urgent Medical Help for Viola
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Nina, but this fundraiser isn't for me.
Introduction
Over the last two years, I've had the absolute pleasure of first commissioning, then becoming friends with a freelance artist and illustrator, Viola Gristanlia. I am making this Go Fund Me with her consent and permission, as I am in the USA and able to organize with Go Fund Me. Based out of Indonesia, she has lovingly created more than 1,000 emotes and chibi art pieces (including a TON for me). Here is a link to her twitter to see a bunch of examples.
These is the first art piece I commissioned from her in 2022:
Getting Sick
In 2022, Viola started to feel sick. By February 2023, she was diagnosed with two severe autoimmune diseases - vasculitis and psoriasis, and spent some time in the hospital. She was sent to an immunologist specialist to run every test they could think of, one of the most intense being a biopsy that required a few stitches. The two closest hospitals to her home don't have the tools and supplies needed for testing or treatment of these disease, so every trip to the doctor has to be a pricey train ride to a bigger city nearby.
Here are some of her lab results:
Here is her official diagnosis of Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis:
Here is one of her February posts including the explanation and some receipts for laboratories and medicines.
Viola also started a donation goal via her Ko-fi account but has had a hard time getting it the reach it needs. She thanked each donor individually and made it a point to send out free art to each one she could reach as a thank you.
After a bit of improvement, things got worse again a few weeks later and the hospital asked for a second biopsy. End of March rolled around and thanks to the donors on Ko-fi Viola was able to successfully have two more biopsies, but not enough to cover the whole cost. During this time, she continued to take and complete a ton of commissions. Insurance available to her was not enough to help with the biopsy surgeries. All her coverage went toward maintaining her mental health and depression medications. These meds help her sleep and rest, and help her control her tremors and anxiety attacks.
**TRIGGER WARNING FOR MEDICAL SYMPTOMS/BRUISING/RASH**
Here is a post from May , about her bodies reaction to just a walk to her nearby supermarket.
Tablet Issues
In September, Viola's drawing tablet broke, completely black screened making her delay her current commissions and keeping her from taking any more to support her work. She was able to temporarily borrow a family member's laptop to work at a much slower pace.
She used her time on the train to and from the hospital to create more art, this time in the form of commercial use VTuber design adoptables.
Viola's drawing tablet got fixed! But October is when the autoimmune diseases started to get much worse again, this time with bad fevers, completely removing her ability to walk and blurring her vision. Attached, a receipt for some of the new medicines prescribed to try to help:
Next up were more lab tests, CT scan and MRI, that all had to be delayed due to expensive medicine costs, and once again Viola's tablet was out of commission. Here is a message she sent me on Dec 11:
What Comes Next
Which brings us to January, a new year but the same pain. The hospital has asked to perform the following:
- MRI of the worst affected areas
- Angiography to better examine the blood vessels
- Consultation and follow up appointments for a specialist in Neuro Opthalmology for the blurred vision issues
I wish with all my heart to be able to help an artist who has become one of my closest friends. Viola is truly one of the kindest souls who just doesn't deserve to be hurt because money is an obstacle. It's crunch time, and we humbly ask for anything you can give, or anywhere you can help to share this fundraiser. ALL funds will be sent directly to her, I am keeping absolutely none of it. I will be happy to post proof of transfer, and if anybody has any questions or best wishes I've posted Viola's twitter above, and I can be reached at @moondrivezee on Twitter.
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
