Urgent Medical Need for devoted Mother and Son

Hi my name is Romeo and my family is facing one of the most challenging times of our lives, and I am reaching out to ask for your help. My incredible mother and my beloved son, both pillars of my world, are in hospital in Jamaica and in desperate need of life-saving care.

My mother, Polly, is a remarkable woman who raised five biological children single-handedly after the death of her husband. She has alway in still in us a sense of kindness and drive to help others along our journey.

As a teacher in rural Jamaica and later in some of the poorest communities in Kingston, she mothered hundreds of children beyond her own. Even when there was not enough food to feed her own family, she would still cook and provide meals for her students. Her boundless generosity extended to her community, where she welcomed people into her home when they had nowhere else to turn. She helped her church with countless projects, and stood as the unwavering matriarch of our family. She has always been the first to give, and now she is fighting for her life in ICU after suffering a stroke and bacterial infection.

At the same time, my 22 year old son Damian, is also in hospital recovering from life-changing injuries after being shot during an attempted robbery while visiting his biological mother in Kingston Jamaica. He has lost a kidney, sustained severe liver and intestinal damage, and has injured vertebrae all that will require long-term care. I raised him as a single father from the age of two when his mother, faced with overwhelming challenges, could not care for all her children. He is a kind-hearted and promising young man whose life has been forever altered by this tragic event.

The healthcare system in Jamaica operates differently from many other countries; every single item used in treatment must be paid for, from the cotton swabs to critical procedures. The medical costs are staggering, and despite spending all my savings and pulling on resources form siblings and friends, we are over £25,000. I cannot do this alone.
