Urgent Medical Transport for Todd Alterman

I want to start off by saying thank you for taking the time to read our Dad’s story. For the past 13 months he has faced the hardest obstacle in his life. He was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer at age 57. It started off as just feeling sleepy with intense back pain to not being able to walk and using a wheelchair. I’m sure you can imagine how hard it was for all of us to see his outgoing humorous personality fade as we all tried to figure out what was happening with his health. He was admitted to U of M hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There they ran numerous tests, surgery of his spine, physical therapy and treatments. Within less than two months he was walking again which was a miracle in itself. His PSA numbers were starting to drop and he was on the road to recovery. He was able to ride his motorcycle, hike and take road trips. The hormonal chemotherapy he has been taking worked wonders for 7-8 months. His body was becoming hormone resistant. His numbers started to rise and he was scheduled for chemotherapy and radiation. Before his scheduled chemotherapy, he and his wife made a trip to New York for the holidays. His health started to decline and he became confused so his wife, Abby took him in right away. He was admitted to Alice Hyde hospital in New York. The doctors now believe he also has clotting in his brain. Since the best care he can receive is in Ann Arbor, Michigan the doctor recommended he be discharged but only if he can be medically transported. The medical transport is not covered by insurance and very costly. We will do anything we can to help with his road to recovery. He is a loving father of two daughters and son. He is blessed with the most caring and compassionate wife. A Jack Russell rat terrier mix that is absolutely obsessed with him. He has so much to look forward to and we want to get his health back as soon as we can. Thank you for taking the time to read his story.
