HELP BIPOC LOW-INCOME PINK PALACE RESIDENTS MOVE!
Donation protected
For years, the Pink Palace has been a legendary pink co-op in the heart of Austin that has hosted iconic artists like Janis Joplin and has been featured in the New York Times and named “Best House in West Campus” by the Austin Chronicle.
Despite our legendary status, we want to be transparent about our current situation. As a low-income co-op, our mission in recent years has been to offer affordable, quality housing to black and brown creatives in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, due to the impending sale of our home, all six members of the Pink Palace face imminent displacement in the coming months.
In order to support our transition in the challenging and expensive Austin rental market, we are actively raising funds to cover moving and transition costs for Pink Palace residents.
All donations will directly assist in ensuring a smooth relocation for our members during this critical time.
In the face of our imminent displacement, it's crucial to recognize the broader challenges our Pink Palace members face. Many of us have experienced multiple displacements within the demanding Austin rental market, compounded by issues such as transphobia, gender-based violence, and classism. These intersecting challenges not only highlight the urgent need for support during this transition but also emphasize the resilience and strength of our community in the face of adversity. Your contribution to our moving fund goes beyond addressing a single move – it signifies solidarity in confronting systemic issues that disproportionately affect black and brown creatives in Austin. Together, we strive to create a space that not only provides housing but also fosters empowerment and resilience in the face of intersecting challenges.
