Help urgently needed to move me back home

Dear friends,

I am in a very vulnerable and unsafe place. I went thru a bad breakup, have lost my job, and will be losing my housing in August. I need to move to Connecticut with my cat to be close to my support system of family & friends, but I cannot currently afford it. I am humbly asking for your help. I am currently in a desperate living situation and need your help to move me and my cat home to live with family where I can make a fresh start in life. Asking for help is hard, but I want the chance to be happy and thriving.

As many of you know, my 12-year relationship has recently come to an end. Living with my ex is an extremely unhealthy situation. It’s time for me to move out of Washington state back home to Connecticut where I can begin life again. I must be out of the apartment by August of this year. Unfortunately, due to various circumstances, this is all happening at the worst possible time for me, financially speaking. Over the past year or so, I have been gradually “quiet fired” from my current job as a graphic designer, with my hours being reduced to almost nothing, especially worse since last fall. Unfortunately, as a contract worker, I am technically self-employed, so I’m not eligible for unemployment. The cushion of savings I had built up over time has been depleted and I am currently in debt. My ex and I weren’t married, so I have no financial protection there.

I’ve been looking for work via a career counseling service, but haven’t been successful finding gainful employment yet. For my remaining time in WA, I hope to find a temp job or some paid gigs, and I plan on selling some of my belongings to help me raise some money for this big (and much needed) life reset, but I will need a considerable amount of help and support to get me through this, and I hope I can count on you.

My ex is planning to move out of state in mid to late August, so I MUST be out of the apartment by then. My tentative move date is August 1st, and I currently have until July 29th to get the money together to make this move possible.

In Connecticut, I will have the support and love of family and friends, which will give me the strength and resources to rebuild my life, pursue my career, and start fresh. I’m very grateful for your support - Thank you from Pickles and me!
