My name is Briana Dajani and I am launching this gofundme campaign for my friend, Mahmoud, and his family during the ongoing aggression in Gaza. Mahmoud has gone through unthinkable pain and suffering. He needs your help to survive, live out his future and rebuild. Thank you in advance for any contribution to this urgent need. Please read below Mahmoud's personal account of his heartbreaking experiences.
Peace be upon you. I am Mahmoud Al-Sumairi from the Gaza Strip, which has been under siege for 18 years. My family consists of 18 individuals, adults and children. I am 24 years old. I have lived in Gaza for 24 years. I have been through 8 wars in the Gaza Strip. My life has been wars. When the war started, we went to Deir al-Balah. We were bombed there, and then we went to an UNRWA school.
We remained in school for approximately two and a half months, two and a half months of torment, fear, bombing, and killing. We lived on aid that came one day and did not come for four days.
The most disturbing thing for the children was their fear and the terror they were experiencing
The most difficult period in my life and in the lives of the children.
Then the occupation entered Khan Yunis and besieged us for approximately 10 days in the school. Then we left the school without a tent and without all of our things. We left them behind us and sat at the checkpoint with the soldiers in front of us from morning to evening. The rain and cold were intense. Then we went to Rafah after a very tiring period. Rafah was far away. We did not have a tent or anything there.
We tried to build a tent in Rafah, we finally built a tent after two days and sat in Rafah for a while.
We also went to the Egyptian border
We had to prepare food over a fire
After that, they said that the army would enter Rafah, and we no longer knew what to do. Should we leave Rafah to Deir al-Balah or remain in Rafah? This is my city. I was shocked when I saw it like this, a desert. The army destroyed it. It destroyed everything. It destroyed our source of livelihood. It destroyed all life.
