Urgent Need - Restoring Sophia’s Vision
Donation protected
9-year old Sophia Kerr suddenly lost her eyesight while in a virtual classroom on September 20. Doctors confirmed that Sophia suffered retinal detachment, a problem which caused her father to become totally blind when he was just 8 years old.
Sophia’s situation is critical and she needs to travel to Trinidad for emergency surgery by an eye specialist there. It has been three weeks since the detachment, and we need to get her help as quickly as possible to try to save her sight.
The total required initially is $5,000.
Based on Sophia’s condition, the family also had her younger brother’s (Oliver) eyes checked. It was confirmed that, though he is still able to see ok, he also needs surgery to try to save his sight.
The Kerr family is hoping that quick action can save both Sophia and Oliver from permanent blindness and is appealing to corporations and individuals who may be able to help. Diaspora Auxilium International, a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, is coordinating this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to help the family with immediate and ongoing needs for Sophia and Oliver.
