#Urgent Project Galgo Vet Bill Appeal

We URGENTLY need to raise a new total of £10000 for medical treatment for some of our Project Galgo dogs. All these dogs have already been through so much in their lives. They only knew brutality, fear, and abuse until they were rescued by our amazing partners in Spain and Bahrain. Since coming to the UK, they have been shown so much love and understanding and their transformations have been incredible to witness.
The treatment they need is urgent and we hope that you can help us to help them.

Mick
Mick is in a lot of pain and the vet has found a problem in his spine. There is significant concern around his 11th vertebrae, which upon touching, will spasm and cause Mick discomfort. It has become clear this is having a large impact on his behaviour and overall well-being.
Why does Mick need your help?
Mick needs a CT scan which costs an estimated minimum of £1,300. This amount does not include any further treatment - simply his scan. He is now on a trial of pain relief but will likely need an MRI.
Recoleta
Recoleta has had swelling in her face for many weeks. After several courses of antibiotics, the swelling burst. Seeing her suffering and in pain is heartbreaking for us and her family.
How will your donation help Recoleta?
Recoleta needs imaging to identify the issues with her mouth and what is causing the swelling. The imaging alone will cost an estimated minimum of £1,100. Costs for further treatment which she needs after the imaging remain unknown.
Mo
Gentle, pretty Mo has aggressive cancer which was diagnosed last year. Her tumour is growing quickly now and we need to make Mo as comfortable as possible.
How will this fundraiser help Mo?
Mo is being supported and loved by one of our amazing foster families. We now move on to palliative care to relieve Mo of her anxiety and pain and make her final weeks or months as carefree as possible.
Elodie
Elodie has severe nerve damage caused by a tick disease and a badly timed spaying whilst she was in Bahrain. This left Elodie paralysed from the waist down. After many months of care in a clinic in Bahrain, she regained some movement in her limbs and in time was able to walk again. However, it left her with incontinence which is improving with the aid of physiotherapy and her incredible foster family.
What treatment does Elodie need?
Your help can contribute towards Elodie’s ongoing physio to help heal the nerve damage.
Muffin
Muffin was rescued in Spain - she was running in and out of traffic and in a terrible way physically. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with Leishmaniasis. She began to respond well to treatment after severe concerns, and has made a good recovery, now in remission. She had, however, developed a cough, which worsened and was not responding to antibiotics. She is undergoing tests.
Bean
Grandma Lena or Bean as she was widely known as, had a horrible life prior to rescue. Very quickly FBM realized that something was wrong with the old girl – an ataxia (swinging corridor), a tilted head posture, she was whining and salivating – the doctors suspected a vestibular syndrome. However, as time has gone on, it was thought to be intercranial lesions.
Sadly Bean rapidly deteriorated in condition and we had to say a very heart breaking goodbye.

All the treatment for these dogs is now urgent. We need help to raise funds quickly to go towards the mounting vet bills for the treatment and investigative procedures they need.

We would be immensely grateful if you could donate anything you can afford. Please share this fundraiser far and wide. Please follow the work we do @projectgalgo or our website www.projectgalgo.com. If you want to contact us about helping with fundraising, please drop us an email at [email redacted].

Together we are stronger.

*If we reach less than our target, any funds raised will still go towards vets’ bills. If the target is exceeded, any additional funds will go towards general charity running costs.
